CrainyCreations heeft al ruim zes jaar de LEGO BIONICLE: Quest for Mata Nui game in ontwikkeling. Het is een fanproject dat niet ondersteunt wordt door LEGO. Zoals je wellicht weet, is LEGO zeer beschermend als het gaat om inbreuk op hun rechten en licenties. CrainyCreations heeft aangegeven dat ze de zegen heeft van LEGO om de game te ontwikkelen. LEGO heeft via het LAN (LEGO Ambassador Network) een statement naar buiten gebracht waarin dit bevestigd wordt.
De LEGO BIONICLE: Quest for Mata Nui is een RPG (Role Playing Game) die zich afspeelt in het BIONICLE universum. In de game ben jij een legendarische Toa waarin je quests kunt voltooien en de Masks of Power dient te verzamelen. De game is begonnen als een mod van Starcraft 2 en is ruim zes jaar in ontwikkeling. Eerder dit jaar werd de game via een aankondiging en trailer uit de doeken gedaan.
De LEGO Games divisie heeft een officieel statement naar buiten gebracht waarin ze aangeven dat ze enthousiast worden van dergelijke toewijding en dat men inderdaad het gesprek is aangegaan over de toekomst van de game. Daar blijft het niet bij, want de divisie geeft zelfs aan dat ze dit soort projecten aanmoedigen en daarover binnenkort meer te melden hebben.
