Zojuist hebben we vernomen dat LEGO de Minifigures die we al sinds eind jaren 70\’ kennen, gaat vervangen voor Minipops. Dit blijkt een mix te zijn tussen de LEGO Minifigures en de LEGO Minidolls. Het persbericht kan je hieronder lezen.
Zoals vele van jullie al hadden verwacht is dit onze 1 april grap van 2017, en gelukkig maar. Lang leve de normale Minifigures 😉

The LEGO® Group is wel known for the Minifigures that we have been producing since 1978. With the Minifigures we made sure that children can relate to the themes and real life situations. For centuries the Minifigures are just as much a part of the LEGO® group as the LEGO® Bricks itself.
For the last couple of years we tried to make LEGO® sets more realistic by producing new elements to ensure that our designers can create more real to life sets. The only thing that we needed to change to make sure every LEGO® product in the future will be as close to reality as possible, are the Minifigures. Therefore we have decided that we will slowely introduce our brand new Minipops® starting 2018.
The Minipops® are a new kind of Minifigure® that alows us to recreate the human form. Rest assured, we have designed the Minipops® in such a way that every accessories we have produced so far can be interlocked with the new Minipops®.
The Minipops® are best described as a mix between the LEGO® Minifigure and the LEGO® Minidoll that we use for the LEGO® Friends, LEGO® Elves and LEGO® DC Comics Super Hero Girls themes. All the features that LEGO® Minifigures have are also applied to the new Minipops®. The heads, upperbodys, legs and accessories are interchanceable making sure children can create the Minipop they would like to create.
The LEGO® Group is very excited to reveal the brand new Minipops® later this year.

Om eerlijk te zijn weten we niet precies wat we van deze keuze moeten vinden. Een bedrijf als LEGO staat eenmaal bekend om zijn producten en hoewel we het toejuichen dat een bedrijf constant probeert te innoveren hebben we het gevoel dat ze hier de plank mee mis gaan slaan. Het is ook onduidelijk wanneer de LEGO Minifigures gaan verdwijnen, als ze al geheel gaan verdwijnen, maar daarover zullen we vast snel meer te weten komen.
