[Review] LEGO 76112 App-Controlled Batmobile

Het LEGO Powered-Up (PU) systeem is de vervanger voor LEGO Power Functions (PF). Op dit moment zijn beide systemen te koop via LEGO, maar PF zal op den duur plaats gaan maken voor PU. Eén van de sets waar het nieuwe PU systeem in uitblinkt is de LEGO 76112 App-Controlled Batmobile. Of het systeem goed werkt en wat je ervan kunt verwachten lees je hieronder.

Visuals en inhoud

De voorkant van de doos laat zien dat de Batmobile te besturen is met een smartphone. Verder is de set zichtbaar en dat het om een Batman voertuig gaat. De achterkant van de doos geeft meer prijs van wat er te verwachten valt. Zo is te zien dat er twee PU motoren, één Bluetooth Hub, een exclusieve Batman Minifig en natuurlijk de set in de doos zitten. Naast dit wordt vermeldt dat de LEGO® Powered-Up app gedownload dient te worden om het geheel aan de praat te krijgen.

De doos bevat drie zakjes met LEGO onderdelen, een Bluethooth Hub, twee PU motoren en vier banden. De set bevat in totaal 321 onderdelen en de verkoopadviesprijs is €109,99. Hierdoor komt de gemiddelde prijs per onderdeel terecht op €0,34. Dit is aan de hoge kant, maar te verklaren door de toevoeging van de motoren, de hub, een speciale app en het feit dat dit een nieuw systeem is. We vinden de prijs daardoor goed te doen voor wat je krijgt.

De Batman Minifigure in de set is uniek en leuk voor de verzamelaar van dergelijke Minifigs. Batman is aan de voor- en achterkant van de torso voorzien van een strakke en gedetailleerde print. De benen bevatten eveneens een strakke print, maar dit beperkt zich logischerwijs tot de voorkant. Het hoofd is voorzien van een dubbelzijdige print met een strijdvaardige blik en een redelijk neutrale doch ietwat niet geamuseerde blik. Er is een cape bijgevoegd die gemaakt is van het nieuwe en zachtere materiaal dat LEGO sinds korte tijd gebruikt. Verdere accessoires zijn een Batarang en het masker.

De Batmobile

Waar het allemaal om draait is de Batmobile die via de app te besturen is. De Batmobile zelf ziet er opgepropt uit en is niet de meest mooie versie van het voertuig die we hebben gezien. Desalniettemin is dit expres zo gedaan door LEGO vanwege de functies van het voertuig. De Batmobile bouwen neemt ongeveer een 45-60 minuten in beslag. Het geheel voelt stevig aan en kan hierdoor goed tegen een stootje.

In het voertuig zijn de motoren en Bluetooth Hub verwerkt. Om de hub te activeren dien je op de aan/uit knop te drukken die op een zwarte schild geprint is. Onder de plate zit een afgeronde tile die de groene knop van de hub indrukt zodra je op aan/uit drukt. Hierdoor is het activeringssysteem mooi weggewerkt en niet zichtbaar met het blote oog. Dit is anders bij de achterkant van de Batmobile. De hub, met daaraan de kabels voor het PU systeem, is weggewerkt door middel van een klep. Nu is dit an sich een prima manier om dit te doen, ware het niet dat de klep de boel niet lekker afsluit. Het gevolg is dat de kabels en een gedeelte van de hub zichtbaar is. Nu doet dit niets af van de speelfuncties die de set bevat, maar voor het oog had dat strakker gekund.

De twee motoren zitten verwerkt in het chassis van de Batmobile. Hierdoor krijgen de wielen optimale tractie en kan het voertuig redelijke snelheden bereiken. Het is geen raceauto, houd daar rekening mee, maar er wordt wel direct voor tractie gezorgd waardoor je kort een wheelie kunt doen. De motoren zijn net als de hub mooi weggewerkt en vallen niet op zodra je met het voertuig aan het rijden bent.

De Powered-Up App en functies

De app is momenteel enkel te gebruiken voor de LEGO City vrachttrein en passagierstrein, en de Batmobile. Bij het opstarten heb je de keuze voor welk thema je de app wilt gebruiken. Bij het selecteren van de City of Batman functie krijg je de keuze welk voertuig of op welke manier je het voertuig wilt besturen. In het geval van de Batmobile heb je de keuze uit de onderste twee mogelijkheden.

Na het selecteren van de functie dien je de hub en de app met elkaar te verbinden. Dit gebeurt door middel van Bluethooth. Het verbinden gaat snel en eenvoudig. Druk op functie en vervolgens op de aan/uit knop van de hub en binnen luttele seconden kun je rijden en stunten met de Batmobile. In de Bluetooth Hub dien je wel zes AAA batterijen te stoppen alvorens hij werkt, deze zijn niet bijgeleverd. Het is dus geen oplaadbare module, hoewel je wel voor oplaadbare batterijen kunt kiezen.

De Batmobile heeft twee aparte bedieningsmogelijkheden. Ze verschillen onderling met name hoe je de Batmobile bestuurt. Wij hebben de voorkeur voor de rode variant omdat het omhoog en naar beneden schuiven van de balkjes makkelijker en sneller werkt dan het indrukken van de digitale knoppen. Het is maar net welke jij het beste vindt werken. Verder zijn er een aantal verschillen in commando’s die je de Batmobile kan geven. Zo kun je met beide varianten de Batmobile wel een commando geven voor een wheelie, maar niet laten ronddraaien of vooruit laten rijden om vervolgens een 180° draai maken. Dus onderling wisselen is van toepassing als je andere trucs uit wilt halen. Helaas biedt de app geen mogelijkheid de commando’s per knop te veranderen. De commando’s zijn voorzien van geluid en dit is met name voor kinderen erg leuk. Als AFOL zul je deze functie snel willen dempen omdat het nogal eentonig kan worden.

Conclusie

Met de LEGO 76112 App-Controlled Batmobile haal je een leuke set in huis. De prijs van de set doet misschien wat af van wat je kunt verwachten, maar je krijgt er wel kwaliteit voor terug. Daarnaast heb je direct een goede start met het nieuwe Powered-Up systeem, dat makkelijk te bedienen valt met de app. Het voertuig zelf is stevig gebouwd, maar hierdoor niet perse mooi te noemen en dat is wel het grootste minpunt. Naast dit zit er een exclusieve Minifig in de set en dat is voor verzamelaars een leuk extra. De Batmobile is met name leuk voor kinderen om mee te spelen.
